Walking Trails
The Reaching New Heights
fitness program aims to ensure older adults’ independence and well
being through a scenic half-mile walking trail, including outdoor
fitness stations and upgraded exercise equipment
in The Fitness Center.
The half-mile walking trail is open to Avery Heights’ residents and
clients, as well as to seniors in the Hartford community. The trail
includes
fitness stations designed to develop strength, endurance, and
cardiovascular ability. The trail also provides a gathering place for
groups of seniors interested in physical fitness.
All baseline fitness data and assessments are made by an exercise
physiologist, who regularly measures progress and makes modifications
to
individual exercise programs.
